Membrane Server runs as a background process on a Windows, Macintosh, or Raspberry Pi computer. While installed, it provides functions that can be accessed by launching the Membrane Control interface.

Multiple varieties of Membrane Server are available, and each computer can only install a single type. The choice of which Membrane Server to install depends on the set of functionality desired.
